Foundations classes offer an academic program for students in grades 7-12 who benefit from a 1:5 student/teacher ratio in order for them to reach their fullest potential. Foundations uses the individualized plan to grow students from their level at the pace that they need. Similar to secondary students, Foundations students may participate in workshops that allow for hands-on learning experiences that fit their individual interests. Using a multi-sensory approach with socratic questioning, students learn to think for themselves and build success in learning how to think about problems from multiple perspectives. Students are evaluated according to grade level standards in order to monitor growth and inform adjustments to their individual plan. A variety of curriculum is chosen to align learning to these standards. We evaluate standards from a variety of sources in order to develop our Essential Learning Outcomes of what we want our students to know and be able to do.
