The Secondary classes offer an academic program for students in grades 7-12 who have an average to above average intelligence but struggle with a learning difficulty that hinders them from succeeding at grade level in 1 or more content areas. ADHD and executive functioning difficulties may also hinder their academic success. The Secondary is limited to a maximum class size of 10:1 student/teacher ratio. The High School is accredited by ACSI and AdvancED through partnership with Cole Valley Christian Schools. This accreditation allows for students to transfer credits to other high schools. Students are eligible to participate in IHSAA athletics with Cole Valley. Selected electives, such as performing arts, may be taken at Cole Valley. In addition to core academic subjects, the Secondary offers workshops for students to choose hands-on learning experiences that fit with their individual interests. Using a multi-sensory approach with socratic questioning, students learn to think for themselves and build success in learning how to think about problems from multiple perspectives. Students are evaluated according to grade level standards in order to monitor growth and inform adjustments to their individual plan. A variety of curriculum is chosen to align learning to these standards. We evaluate standards from a variety of sources in order to develop our Essential Learning Outcomes of what we want our students to know and be able to do.
